Choosing the right equipment matters. Our team helps golfers get set up properly from the start.

Test Your Gear on a Real Golf Course

The best place to understand your equipment isn’t a store - it’s the golf course. We encourage golfers to try their new gear on the course where the game is actually played. The round is on us!

I’ve seen a lot of golfers come through here thinking they just need to “get in better shape” to handle 18 holes, but after watching enough rounds you start to notice something else. By the back nine, it’s not their swing breaking down first — it’s how they’re moving. Shorter steps, less balance, a bit more effort getting from shot to shot. Most of the time, it’s not
conditioning. It’s the shoes.
That’s where something like the All Day Ripstop V2 fits in. This isn’t built like a traditional golf
shoe. It’s closer to something you’d wear all day — lighter, more flexible, and with a bit more
room through the toe so your foot can move naturally as you walk. Over 18 holes, that adds
up. You’re not fighting the shoe, you’re just walking.
What I’ve seen this help with is pretty consistent: golfers who feel worn down late in the
round, players who walk regularly, and even those dealing with foot fatigue without really
realizing it yet. This is for golfers who want to get through a full round without thinking about their feet. If you prefer a firm, structured shoe that really locks you in, this will feel too
relaxed. For a lot of players, the biggest benefit is simple — you stop noticing your shoes
somewhere around the 5th or 6th hole, and that’s usually a good sign

“Golf has been my life for more than five decades. When you spend that much time on practice tees and fairways, watching golfers of every level play the game, you begin to understand something important. Improvement doesn’t come from marketing claims or the newest equipment release. It comes from using the right tools for your swing and understanding what your golf ball is actually doing. At Southern Pines I’ve had the privilege of helping generations of golfers learn and enjoy the game. Over the years you start to see what equipment truly helps players improve - and what simply looks good in a catalogue. That experience guides every recommendation we make in our pro shop. Because after a lifetime in the game, you learn that the best equipment isn’t the one with the loudest marketing. It’s the one that helps golfers enjoy the game!”
