Doug's take
"I've been fitting golfers for 44 years. The ones who come back happy never talk about the brand. They talk about how they felt on 17."

Garmin Approach® R10 Portable Golf Launch Monitor
Over the years I’ve learned something about golfers.
Most players are trying to improve their swing… but they don’t actually know what their swing is doing. They hit balls. They try different things. They hope something works. But without feedback, improvement becomes guesswork.
That’s where tools like the Garmin Approach R10 can make a real difference.
This launch monitor gives golfers the ability to see what’s actually happening when the ball leaves the club face. Ball speed, launch angle, carry distance, club path and shot shape all become visible in a way that most golfers have never experienced before.
What I like about the R10 is that it makes that information available in a very simple format. You don’t need a permanent simulator room or a complicated setup. The unit sits behind the ball, connects to your phone, and immediately begins showing you the results of each swing.
For golfers practicing on the range, it helps with distance control and understanding ball flight.
For golfers practicing at home, it can become the centrepiece of a very good simulator setup.
And for golfers working on their swing, it provides the kind of feedback that used to only exist in teaching studios.
Technology like this doesn’t replace practice. But it can make practice far more productive.
Why Doug Millar Recommends It
At Southern Pines we work with golfers of every level - beginners learning the basics, experienced players trying to tighten their dispersion, and juniors developing their swings. One thing I see over and over again is that golfers improve faster when they understand what their golf ball is actually doing.
The Garmin R10 gives players that understanding.
It’s portable enough to bring to the range, accurate enough to provide meaningful feedback, and versatile enough to be used as part of a home simulator setup.
For golfers who enjoy practicing and learning about their swing, it’s a very useful tool.

Doug said it. Then our golfers said it too.
"I walked 18 twice last week and my feet weren't an issue for the first time in years."
"Doug fitted me, threw in a sleeve of Pro V1s, and told me to come back if they didn't work. They worked."
